Fallon Sherrock is one of the most famous and successful professional female darts players in the world. For many, Fallon is the only woman darts player they could name. In this post, we are going to tell you more about the personal and professional evolution of this young darts star.
Fallon Sherrock is an English darts player. She was born in Milton Keynes, the largest town in Buckinghamshire, England. Fallon started competing at the county youth level when she was 17. She discovered her passion for darts thanks to her family. Her parents were occasional players. In 2021, Sherrock represented the Girls England Youth Team at the WDF Europe Cup Youth tournament while she was playing for the Bedford Darts Organization.
In 2012, Fallon won the Girls World Masters and the Women's Jersey Open. In 2013, she conquered another victory in the Women's British Classic. 2013 was also the year when she finished her A-level examinations and decided to continue focusing on darts rather than starting to study forensic at university, which was her initial plan.
In January 2014, Fallon participated for the first time at the BDO World Championship. There, she managed to reach the quarter-final, but she lost to Anastasia Dobromyslova.
However, Sherrock continued training and improving. She was only 21 when she entered the final of the 2015 BDO Women's World Darts Championship. On this occasion, she managed to beat Dobromyslova with a score of 2–1 in the semi-finals. This was an outstanding victory for her as she also set a world championship record after she hit five 180s. However, in the final, she lost 3-1 to Lisa Ashton.
2019 was the next landmark in Sherrock’s career. That year, in January, she managed to beat a man at the PDC World Championships, which made her the first women player to mark this type of victory. She beat Ted Evetts 3–2. Then, she also managed to beat Mensur Suljović 3–1.
Sherrock was already a prominent player when she was invited at the Maritim Hotel in Bonn to take part in the German darts event Die Promi-Darts-WM (Celebrity Darts World Cup) alongside darts stars such as Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor, Max Hopp, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price. During this event, she partnered with former World Cup winner Luca Toni.
In 2020, Sherrock competed at the 2020 PDC Q School for a tour card, however, she did not manage to get one. In February 2020, she managed to win the Rileys Wolverhampton qualifier. This granted her the right to participate in the 2020 UK Open. However, this debut of hers was not marked by a victory as she lost in the first round by playing against Kyle McKinstry with 1–6. 2020 was also the year that saw Sherrock appear at the Premier League Darts as a 'challenger'. Here, she managed to draw 6-6 against Glen Durrant.
Sherrock is one of the young players who achieved great success in a relatively short time. Not surprisingly, she is also known by the nickname 'the Queen of the Palace'. This promising player will surely continue to delight and amaze us in years to come. And even if she wouldn’t manage to secure other notable victories, she will always remain the first women who managed to defeat a man at the PDC World Darts championship.
