If you’ve ever played darts by the rules, you know that there is a certain distance you have to take from the dartboard before you’re allowed to launch your darts. This distance is traditionally market by a darts throw line, also known as a toe line, or oche. This line can take different forms. You can use a sticker to mark it, a darts mat, or even draw it on the floor with a piece of chalk. However, the less invasive, cleanest, and most modern way to establish this distance from the dartboard is by using a laser throw line. Discover how this device works and its main advantages.
What Is a Laser Throw Line?
This type of oche is a modern device you fix right above your dartboard. As its name suggests, it contains a laser light. When the laser is on, its beam marks the correct position of the toe line on the floor. This way, instead of stepping right behind a sticker toe line or an old darts mat that can also make you stumble, there will be no obstacles in your way. The visible laser beam will allow you to position yourself correctly while playing darts, without the necessity to stick or place any items on your floor.
Moreover, some darts laser toe lines, such as the one we offer here, at IgnatGames, are provided with extra lights. Our model features two white lights that are positioned at equal distances from the red light, which marks the oche. These lateral lights can contribute to more accuracy because they increase the dartboard’s visibility. Especially if you play in a place where the light is typically dim, such as a pub or bar, you will find these lights super useful. They will help you see the sections of the dartboard better and aim for the right one in order to score.
Why Should You Use a Laser Throw Line?
Now that you know how a darts laser toe line works, let’s dive deeper into the advantages this item can offer you.
No more mess:
Laser toe lines are absolutely non-invasive. Unlike sticker lines, there is no item you need to stick on the floor, which usually becomes hard to remover after a while and leaves nasty marks on the pavement.
No risk of stumbling:
If you use a darts mat as a toe line, you might be making an upgrade from the sticker line, which is quite inexpensive, but causes mess. A dart mat throw line usually includes the necessary distance measurements both for soft and steel tip darts games. Most of these items are made of durable materials and provide good adherence. However, after prolonged use, they start wearing off and curling, which makes them impractical, and even poses the risk of stumbling and getting injured.
A more pleasant look
With no more marks or mats on the floor, your game room can look more tidy and less cluttered. Moreover, a laser toe line is a cool, high-tech darts accessory. Once the laser is turned on, your game area will get a whole new, modern touch.
Less dust in your room
Finally, if you’re allergic to dust, or you simply don’t like seeing it around, replacing that old dart mat with a laser toe line can also contribute to a less dusty room.
These are just some of the main pros of using a laser toe line. For more details on this stylish and modern darts accessory, check out the IgnatGames laser throw line and don’t hesitate to contact us for any questions.
Love my laser toe line.
There was no way I putting tape on my new carpet. Searched for a way around doing this, and found the laser.
Works great and doesn’t mess your carpet up. And as cheap as it is, I am surprised it isn’t more common. My only gripe is that it should have included a power cord, but I picked one up on Amazon for $8.
